What is a Giclee?
Giclee (pronounced Zhee-clay or Ghee-clay) is a French word meaning "spray of ink or liquid". Giclee reproductions were originally developed in 1989 as "state of the art" technology in digital fine art printing.
The Giclee process produces prints which are rich and saturated with color and has the ability to render the finest detail. This is one of the reasons The Art Garage chose this form of printmaking for Alan Hogan's art. Unlike lithographs and serigraphs, Giclees have undergone extensive third-party fade testing. Giclees are shown in major museums and galleries throughout the world. These prints are made with pigment-based archival inks on either archival canvas or paper. Each print is treated with a protective acrylic matte or semi gloss finish. Treat a Giclee print the same way as any original artwork, protecting it from water and prolonged direct sunlight.
Both the artist Alan Hogan or The Art Garage cannot be held responsible for any damage to their Giclee prints due to improper handling or from environmental conditions such as moisture or light.
